Bachelor in Facilities Management

We meet the needs of managers who have, or aspire to have, responsibilities for staff, finance, and health and safety operations. You should either be already working in facilities management, moving into this area from a related role such as office manager or maintenance manager, or you could be an experienced facilities manager who is keen to progress by attaining an academic qualification.

We deliver this course via the internet - giving you the opportunity to fit your learning around your work and personal commitments - allowing you to progress with your studies anywhere in the world.

We place a strong emphasis on developing your skills through work-based learning and you will build your expertise in every area that a facilities manager plays within an organisation's business - from operational tasks and tactical progression, through to strategic development.

You will improve your ability to respond to users' requirements, solve problems and contribute to an organisation's overall aims and objectives.

Academics

Facilities management is an area of work with fantastic opportunities both in the UK and worldwide. Businesses and institutions throughout the world are recognising the importance of facilities management in terms of the support and the added value it is able to provide to an organisation's core activities. You will have skills to work for professional facilities management companies, hospitals, local authorities, major retailers, manufacturers, transport organisations or any organisation which occupies premises.

Our course is entirely delivered by web-based distance learning. This means that you can take the course with you wherever you are - all you need is access to the internet and email. You will be supported by email and online audio sessions which will be recorded, giving you a chance to study at a time that's best for you.

Some course work relates directly to the work-place so you may have the opportunity to use a work project to count towards your degree.
Core Modules

Financial & Commercial Management

This module looks at the financial aspects of running a business, a practice, or a department. It deals with accounts, time value of money and net present values. The commercial management aspect includes focus on management styles and human resource management.

Facilities & Maintenance Management

You will study what facilities management is in its broadest sense and the different components that make it. We also concentrate on management of buildings, plant and real estate - looking at the different types of maintenance available.

Major Project (Capstone) - double module

This module puts together all you have learned and relates it either to a major project at work, or a simulated project if necessary. An example of a project could be a major relocation, which would involve HR, estate management, space planning, contracts, budgets and project management.

Work-Based Learning

We will focus on a project from your workplace, exploring what you have learned and how it has helped. We will also examine how what you have learned from your project has helped with your study.

Facilities Management Practice

You will examine the role of a facilities manager, learn how to become a facilities manager and study the employment options that will be available to you.

With close links to key accrediting industry bodies, we provide our graduates with access to full professional status.
